“Wouldn’t it be nice not to have to worry about distribution?”

That was the question I was continually asking myself. As a filmmaker in Canada, I've had two films (working with Director Evan Beloff) appear on CBC's Absolutely Canadian stream. But these films, loved as they were, didn't reach their audience.

There are many sites and services which can bring you content, some of it's good and some of it is bad. Some you pay with money, others by watching ads (and some by doing both). Furthermore, there are hundreds of services which will help you sell your films for a fee. These are all great, but as a filmmaker in the first quarter of the new millennium, I wanted to have more control.

Folkl.org was born of a desire to create a home for brilliant content, films but also articles, BTS material, and other stuff, beginning with my own passion-projects, and then building on that foundation to become a small but strong media force in Canada and worldwide.
